3 Things Not to Forget When Visiting Monaco

Monaco truly is the playground of the rich, but that doesn’t mean that us average joes can’t enjoy a few days there, right? My friends and I visited Monaco a few years ago and though we had a really great time, there were still a few things that we forget to take along that slightly limited the fun we could have. With this in mind, I thought I’d share them with you so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

Don’t Forget – Your Passport/Driver’s License

We all know about the famous Formula 1 track in Monte Carlo, right? Well you might just get the chance to drive around it a few times in a Ferrari for a cost which doesn’t break the bank (I think my friend paid around 60 Euros), if you remember to bring your driver’s license and passport along with you for the ride that is. My friend forgot his, but he loved the idea so much that he got up at the crack of dawn the morning after to get the train back to Monaco (we were in France!) just to do it, passport and driver’s license in hand. If I’m being honest I don’t quite remember which one of the two you needed, or whether you needed them both, so it would probably be wise to take them both along.

Don’t Forget – Your Speedos

You may or may not know that there is a fantastic outdoor pool in Monte Carlo. The problem is that the only way you will be able to enjoy it is if you take a pair of Speedos along with you on your visit. It seems to be national thing in France – and apparently in Monaco too – that you can only go swimming in a public place if you are wearing Speedo type attire. So, if you want to enjoy the experience of an outdoor swim in a millionaires’ playground, then be sure to have some very tight fitting swim trunks on hand.

Don’t Forget – Your Wallet

Okay, so this one is a given but still shouldn’t be underestimated. Monaco can be a very expensive day out, so be sure to keep plenty of cash aside for your visit. Although Monaco is expensive, it doesn’t have to break the bank, as there are still some quite good deals to be found when eating out, especially if you head to the old town. If you’re planning on splashing out on Gucci or Versace, though, then don’t forget your wallet or purse.

So, there we have it, three very important items you shouldn’t forget to take along with you when you are visiting the truly exciting place that is Monaco. A trip to Monte Carlo could be a once in a lifetime experience for most, so if you want to make the most of it then you will want to bring along the items listed above.

Have you been to Monaco and did you forget to take one of the above items?
