What Are the Top Things to do in Prague?

You have probably heard by now about how great Prague is but what will you do once you get to the Czech capital? The good news is that no matter what kind of trip you plan to make here, there is lots to do.

Cross the Bridge

Crossing a bridge doesn’t really sound all that exciting, does it? However, when the bridge in question is the beautiful, historic Charles Bridge then it becomes a lot more interesting. This Prague landmark is a must-see for all tourists, which is why it gets so wildly crowded at times. If you want to soak up the atmosphere and see the famous statues in peace then an early morning trip to Charles Bridge is probably your best bet. The statues on the bridge are all replicas now but some of them are intriguing and entertaining regardless.

See the Historic Buildings

There are so many fantastic buildings in Prague that we might as well put them all together under one heading. It is an incredible city for just wandering around and looking at the history and the beauty on display. Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral are a couple of the places you will want to take a few photos of while you are here. The Astronomical Clock is another of the attractions most tourists can’t resist taking a look at. This is the oldest astronomical clock still working today and a lot more interesting to look at than you might think. There are a number of things that go on here, with the moon and the sun going around the clock face among other figures. Some people will tell you that a few great mysteries are hidden in its face as well.

Get Some Culture

Prague is a hugebridgely popular spot for stag parties and hen weekends these days. While it is a fantastic city for a drinking trip with some mates, there is also a huge amount of culture you could enjoy here too. Prague National Theatre is a magnificent setting in which to see a show. This is home to a lot of opera shows but you could also catch some ballet or a drama performance if you prefer.

Get a Pint of Beer (or Three)

I mentioned stag and hen parties earlier on but any type of trip to the Czech capital is a good excuse for a few pints of some of the finest beer around. Many people regard this as the best place in the world to drink some of the planet’s finest beer, with lots of pubs specialising in different brews. It isn’t as cheap to drink here as it used to be but if you get off the tourist trail you can still find bargain beers aplenty.

Listen to Music

There is a vibrant live music scene in Prague which it is well worth seeking out. If you are planning on catching some tunes over there be sure to check out the upcoming shows online before you travel. All sorts of musical styles are covered, from jazz to hard rock and from national folk music to dance.

Eat Well

Another of the treat most visitors enjoy here is the food. There are some classy and expensive restaurants in the most touristy parts but cheaper grub can be found in Prague as well. The pub grub round here is famous for its uniqueness, with the famous head cheese something you definitely need to try, although you might already know a version of this cold cut as brawn or even potted heid. There is a huge variety of different meals and snacks to try here, so try and taste as much of the local cuisine as possible while in Prague.
